Expert Care to Relieve Your Pain & Resolve Your Condition
At Pomona Valley Podiatry Group, we're proud to offer comprehensive podiatric care that includes medical procedures like injection therapy and stem cell therapy. In certain cases, these therapies are the best option for treating your condition and resolving your pain. Dr. O'Neill is specially trained in podiatric medical procedures in Pomona, CA, and the La Verne and Claremont, CA, areas, and can get you back to enjoying your life free from pain.

Injection Therapy
In some cases, corticosteroid injections are used to help reduce inflammation and relieve pain. Corticosteroid injection therapy uses anti-inflammatory medicines to treat a range of conditions such as arthritis and joint pain. The medicine is injected into the joint or muscle of the affected area and usually take a few days to work effectively, although some people experience relief sooner.
Injections typically wear off in a few months. Dr. O'Neill will recommend an injection schedule on a case-by-case basis, but generally no more than three injections in the same location in a year.
OrthoBiologics
Orthobiologics are a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for conditions like arthritis and muscle and ligament injuries. They use substances naturally found in your body such as complex carbohydrates, proteins, cells, and glycoproteins to help reduce inflammation and improve healing and reduce or eliminate pain. Orthobiologics services are performed in our office and allow you to quickly resume normal activities.
You may experience mild discomfort for a few days following treatment. Most patients can expect pain improvement in two to six weeks.
Amniotic Stem Cell Therapy
We are excited to be able to offer the incredible regenerative properties of amniotic stem cell therapy as an alternative to surgery. This virtually pain-free procedure utilizes the exceptional healing properties of amniotic fluid to treat a number of painful or immobilizing conditions, including degenerative arthritis, tendon damage, ligament damage, and wounds.
What Is Amniotic Stem Cell Therapy?
Amniotic fluid surrounds a fetus as it grows in the mother's womb. This fluid contains unique healing properties due to its high concentration of stem cells. The stem cells of amniotic fluid include a component called extracellular matrix (ECM), which cannot be found in other types of stem cells.
During your amniotic stem cell therapy procedure, Dr. O'Neill will inject specially treated amniotic fluid into the injured joint or area. The ECM in these stem cells will effectively jumpstart your body's own cells into repairing your injured tissue.
Benefits of Stem Cell Therapy
Amniotic stem cell injections carry little risk and offer numerous healing benefits including:
- No cartilage loss – While steroid injections can cause the cartilage in your joint or joints to degenerate, stem cell injections will not damage your cartilage at all.
- No painful recovery – In addition to the risks that accompany any kind of surgery, you can expect a long and painful rehabilitation period following orthopedic surgery. Amniotic stem cell injections, on the other hand, are virtually pain-free!
- Improved healing – Steroid injections typically treat only your painful symptoms in an attempt to delay surgery. Stem cell injections, on the other hand, promote actual healing in your body. Your condition is treated, not just your symptoms, so surgery can be avoided altogether rather than simply delayed!
